Capacity and performance for entry level requirements
With 24 GB capacity and 2.4 MB/s sustained data transfer rate, with 2:1 data compression, Sony 9000 series DDS-3 drives offer increased capacity along with the fastest DDS-3 tape drives in the market. The 9000 series capacity and speed are a great match for higher end requirements such as small to mid-size networks

Backward compatibility with DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape formats
Sony DDS-3 tape drive not only read and write to 125 meter, 24 GB (with 2:1 compression) data cartridges, but also are fully read/write compatible with both DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape formats. Backward compatibility helps protect your investment in the valuable data you already have stored on DDS-2 and DDS-1 data cartridges, while delivering the increased capacity and performance of DDS-3 technology.

PCBackerT software solution kit provides a more complete solution
The 9000/PB PCBacker software solution kit includes both software and hardware accessories to get your new DDS-2 drive up and running. The software bundle includes the full working version of Veritasr Backup Exec, Desktop Solution for Windowsr 95/98 and Windows NTr systems. Also bundled is a 60 day live trial version of Veritasr Backup Exec Single/Multi Server edition for Windows NT/2000 and Novellr NetWarer. Hardware accessories include a pre-installed 5.25-inch bezel to allow installation of the drive in a standard 5.25-inch drive enclosure, a spare 3.5-inch standard bezel, a Sony 125 m DDS-3 data cartridge, a DDS cleaning cartridge, and a user manual to help with getting started.

Patented Super Head CleanerT mechanism reduces periodic cleaning
Head contamination, the single greatest cause of tape drive failures, is greatly reduced with the use of Sony's Super Head Cleaner mechanism. This device, built into every Sony DDS tape drive, automatically cleans the read/write heads after every 15 minutes of use. Contamination from tape cartridges is kept to a minimum, reducing the need for period cleaning with your DDS cleaning cartridge.

Sony Hyper MetalT head greatly reduces error rates
The unique Hyper Metal head design incorporated in Sony 9000 series DDS-3 tape drives reduces error rates by up to 90% over conventional ferrite MIG heads. Reduced error rates means more efficient operation of your tape backup systems and greater protection for your critical data.
