Capacity and performance for entry
level requirements
With 4 GB capacity and 778 kB/s sustained data transfer rate, without data
compression, Sony 7200 series DDS-2 provide a cost effective option for the
entry level requirements of a home/office or small business application.
Backward compatibility with DDS-1
tape format
Sony DDS-2 drives are fully read/write compatible with both DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape
formats. Backward compatibility helps protect your investment in the valuable
data you already have stored on DDS-1 data cartridges, while delivering the
increased capacity and performance of DDS-2 technology.
Integration kit includes
installation essentials
The 7200/BM integration kit includes the basics need to integrate your new DDS-2
drive into your existing system. Accessories include a pre-installed 5.25-inch
bezel to allow installation of the drive in a standard 5.25-inch drive
enclosure, a spare 3.5-inch standard bezel, a DDS cleaning cartridge, and a user
manual to help with getting started.
Patented Super Head CleanerT
mechanism reduces periodic cleaning
Head contamination, the single greatest cause of tape drive failures, is greatly
reduced with the use of Sony's Super Head Cleaner mechanism. This device, built
into every Sony DDS tape drive, automatically cleans the read/write heads after
every 15 minutes of use. Contamination from tape cartridges is kept to a
minimum, reducing the need for period cleaning with your DDS cleaning cartridge.
