Seagate's Viper 200 tape drive delivers up to 200 Gbytes per cartridge
(compressed) of exceptional data protection. With a compressed transfer rate
of up to 115.2 GBytes per hour and an MTBF rating of 250,000 at a 100% duty
cycle, data is protected with extreme speed and reliability. Viper is based
on the Ultrium format of Linear Tape-Open technology and is covered by a
3-year warranty and Seagate's REACT rapid replacement program. |

Features |
Benefits |
 |
 |
Extreme
Reliability (250,000 hours MTBF @ 100% duty cycle) |
The
security and availability of critical data is enhanced through very high
reliability. |
 |
Dynamic
Powerdown Technology |
Protects
data and drive in the event of a power interruption. |
 |
FastSense
Technology |
Optimizes
back time and increases reliability by matching the physical tape speed with
the incoming data rate to minimize back-hitching. |
 |
Large
64 Mbyte Cache |
Optimizes
performance |
 |
Dual
Chassis Design |
Increases
reliability and longevity of the drive by more effectively dissipating heat
and isolating the head to tape interface from external influences. |
 |
Ultra
High Capacity (up to 200Gbytes per cartridge) |
Protects
large amounts of critical data on a single cartridge. |
 |
Fast
Transfer Rate (1.92 Gbytes per minute compressed) |
Protects
more data in less time |
 |
Intelligent
Data Compression |
Maximizes
per cartridge capacity and compression ratios by analyzing incoming data for
compressability. |
 |
Patented
Tape Threading System |
Minimizes
the chance of damaged or dropped media leaders. |
 |
Intelligent
Media Analysis |
Minimizes
the chance of writing good data to bad media by demarking suspect portions
of media based on servo signal strength. |
