IBM TotalStorage 7212 Storage Device Enclosure

The IBM TotalStorage 7212 Storage Enclosure is a versatile product that provides efficient and convenient storage expansion for IBM eServer iSeries and pSeries servers. The 7212 offers two models designed for either manual operation or automation. The 7212 can mount in 1 EIA unit of a standard 19-inch rack using an optional rack hardware kit, or it can be configured for desktop mounting.

The 7212 Model 102 has two bays that can accommodate any combination of up to two of the following tape or optical storage drive features: DAT72, VXA-2, DDS4 and SLR60/100 tape drives, or DVD-RAM and DVD-ROM optical drives. The model 102 attaches to IBM eServer iSeries and pSeries servers. The Model 102 also is supported by a one-year IBM Warranty and IBM Onsite Repair (IOR)

The 7212 Model 312 provides a compact design for tape storage automation. It offers a high performance VXA-2 tape drive with a total storage capacity of up to 1.6 terrabytes of storage, and is designed to help reduce overhead costs by reducing attended operator time and tape handling. The model 312 attaches to most IBM eServer pSeries server models.The Model 312 also is supported by a one-year IBM Warranty and either IOR or Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU)Service options.

Compact design of the Model 102 can be configured with up to two storage devices or as a 1.6 terrabyte autoloader in a 1 EIA (1U) of a standard 19-inch server rack, or as a low-profile desktop solution

Very low profile, modular design minimizes space requirements when installed in a rack enclosure

Provides a solution choice for environments where cabling space and server bays for storage are limited

Cost-effective tape and optical save/restore and archiving functions

Model 102

• Features a compact design that can be configured with up to two storage devices in one EIA unit (1U) of a standard 19-inch IBM p5 or pSeries and i5 or iSeries server rack, or as a low-profile desktop solution
• Offers several storage device options, including VXA-2, DAT72, SLR60, SLR100 and DDS4 tape drives, a DVD-RAM drive and a DVD-ROM drive
• Provides a solution choice for environments in which cabling space and server storage bays are limited
• Connects to IBM p5, pSeries servers and RS/6000 workstations and servers; also connects to i5 and iSeries servers

• Designed to be read- and write-compatible with IBM p5 and pSeries VXA-2 tape systems, as well as with the IBM 7206-VX2 external tape drive and VXA-1 media commonly used in the IT industry
