The IBM 7337 Model 305/306 Digital Linear Tape Library provides an integrated, cost-effective solution for users who require a high-capacity automated tape library in an RS/6000 environment. It was designed for capacity, speed, reliability and ease of use and is based on proven DLT tape drive technology and industry- leading library automation technology.

The IBM 7337 Model 305/306 tape library has a dual-host function which will allow two RS/6000 processors to be attached to it and operate it as two independent autoloaders. This enables doubled throughput, concurrent read/write operation, simultaneous backup, and fault tolerance.

This tape library incorporates 15 data cartridges and one or two drives in a rack-mount or desktop configuration. Using DLT 7000 drive technology, the IBM 7337 uses tape cartridges that provide 35GB native capacity and has a native data transfer rate of 5MB/sec. With data compression, you can store up to 70GB on a single cartridge. This gives you a maximum library capacity of 1.05TB with a data transfer rate of up to 10MB/sec (with compression). The IBM 7337 is also backward read/write compatible with legacy DLT formats. A bar-code reader comes standard and provides fast, accurate cartridge identification, inventory and media management. The IBM 7337 can operate in manual, auto loader, and random mode.

The IBM 7337 features industry-leading firmware in its robotic positioning system to provide self-calibration and maximum reliability and uptime. Drives, power supply, and electronic modules are all easily replaced at your site, and the IBM 7337 is backed by IBM worldwide service and support.
