generation Ultrium 448 tape drive. Multiple drive models are available for the
compact, half-height Ultrium 920 Tape Drive including internal, external, and 1U
rack-mount model. The Ultrium 920 Tape Drive is fully read and write compatible
with all second-generation Ultrium media and offers further investment
protection through its backward-read compatibility with first-generation Ultrium
media.
As is standard with all HP tape drives, HP StorageWorks Data
Protector Express Single Server Edition backup/recovery software and the HP
StorageWorks Data Protector Express Bare Metal Disaster Recovery option is
included with each drive model, as well as support for HP StorageWorks
One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) and HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools
(L&TT). For IT organizations with stringent, long-term data retention
requirements, the Ultrium 920 Tape Drive WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) data
protection feature offers a simple and secure method for archiving records
allowing customers to affordable meet the toughest industry compliance
regulations.
The Ultrium 920 Tape Drive supports the industry's most
comprehensive list of compatible hardware and software platforms, including
support for both HP and non-HP servers and workstations. Each drive model
includes a single HP Ultrium 800GB data cartridge as well as all required
mounting and cabling hardware or easy integration into entry-level and midrange
servers. Available in both SCSI and SAS models, the Ultrium 920 is ideal for
midrange and departmental servers.
Available in both Ultra320 SCSI and 3Gb/sec SAS interfaces,
the Ultrium 920 is ideal for midrange and departmental servers
- Agility: high capacity -
The Ultrium 920 Tape Drive stores up to 800GB of data on a
single data cartridge using 2:1 compression. High capacity drive reduces the
costs associated with data protection by requiring fewer data cartridges to
complete backups.
- Agility: higher performance with dynamic
data rate matching - Ultrium 920 Tape Drive
120MB/sec compressed data transfer using 2:1 compression, allows customers to
scale their backup capacities without having to increase their backup windows.
HP’s exclusive dynamic data rate matching feature which can match the
throughput of the host – ranging from 20MB/sec to 60MB/sec (native).
- Simplicity: half-height form factor for
easy installation and integration - The Ultrium
920 Tape Drive has a half-height form factor allowing for installation into
all standard 5.25-inch media bays.
- Value: One-Button Disaster Recovery
(OBDR) supported - Firmware-based disaster
recovery feature that can restore an entire system using a single Ultrium 920
tape drive and data cartridge. For more information about OBDR, visit the HP
website at http://www.hp.com/go/obdr.
- Value: investment protection built in -
HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 Tape Drives ship with HP StorageWorks Data
Protector Express Single Server Edition backup/recovery software and the HP
StorageWorks Data Protector Express Bare Metal Disaster Recovery option.
- Simplicity: broad connectivity -
Available in both Ultra320 SCSI and 3Gb/sec SAS interfaces, the Ultrium 920 is
ideal for midrange and departmental servers.
- Agility: software compatibility -
Extensive list of supported backup and archiving software applications from
HP, CA, VERITAS, Yosemite, Legato, Tivoli, and many more.
- Value: management and diagnostics
software included- Tape drive management,
performance optimization, and troubleshooting are made simple using the HP
StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools application that is included with the HP
Ultrium 920 Tape Drive.
- Value: WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many)
media support - For IT organizations with
stringent, long-term data retention requirements, the Ultrium 920 Tape Drive
WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) data protection feature offers a simple and
secure method for archiving records allowing customers to affordable meet the
toughest industry compliance regulations.
- Agility: server compatibility -
Qualified on HP ProLiant, Integrity, 9000, NonStop, and AlphaServers
platforms, as well as many servers from other leading vendors such as Dell,
IBM, and Sun. Support for heterogeneous hardware and software platforms
provides customers with a single tape drive solution for all environments.

HP
StorageWorks Ultrium Half-Height Tape Drives |
The HP StorageWorks family of Ultrium tape
drives is HP's premier line of tape backup devices. Based on LTO Ultrium
format, an open standard with a well-defined six-generation roadmap, HP
Ultrium tape drives offer customers the best choice for investment
protection relative to their backup and archival requirements. HP pioneered
the half-height Ultrium drive, as the only manufacturer offering both
full-height and half-height models of the first-generation Ultrium drives.
While HP Ultrium half-height drives deliver the same capacity and the same
level of reliability as our full-height Ultrium drives, they trade off lower
performance for a much lower price, making them ideal for those who need the
capacity and reliability of a superdrive without paying for the blazing
speed of a full-height LTO drive. Three generations of half-height drives
are available from HP, offering a wide portfolio to meet the backup
requirements for entry to midrange servers.
With ultimate reliability and ease of use in mind, even at a 100% duty
cycle, HP's rugged design builds on superior LTO technology and adds
advanced features to create a new level of data protection. HP Ultrium tape
drives employ dynamic data rate matching to adjust to the speed of the host,
reducing wear and tear on both drive and media and increasing performance,
even on slower hosts. HP's ultra-durable soft-load feature automatically
positions the data cartridge, and the highly reliable HP leader-capture
mechanism virtually eliminates lost leaders, increasing the success of your
backup and restore operations. Support for HP One-Button Disaster Recovery
provides the easiest way to restore data in the event of a disaster. If data
is critical to your business, protect it with an HP StorageWorks Ultrium
tape drive. |
