The StorageWorks TL895 DLT Library offers
multiple terabytes of automated DLT backup and restore for
mission critical data running under UNIX, Windows NT and NetWare
operating environments. It is the only high capacity DLT device
fully qualified by Compaq to run on both ProLiant and Alpha
Series servers. The TL895 is also qualified all on Alpha/Intel
based servers running WindowsNT, NetWare, and Tru64 UNIX, and
OpenVMS operating systems, using industry standard application
software.
The TL895 DLT automated tape library is an
existing Compaq offering, released in March 1998 by Digital, as
a high-performance, free-standing DLT tape library targeting the
departmental secondary storage market. The TL895 product is a 96
slot automated library unit, available with two through seven
DLT7000 drives.
The TL895 has been qualified as a direct
attached device to existing Compaq ProLiant and Alpha platforms,
running NT and NetWare Operating Systems using industry standard
application software.
The TL895's scalable performance, using add-on
DLT7000 drives, allows for customized configurations, enabling
the end user to tune the device to meet their backup and restore
time requirements.

TL895 DLT Automated Library
Each library installation will require: (1) library system, (1)
geographically specific localization kit, one differential SCSI cable
for each DLT drive pair, and (96) pieces of DLT media with bar code
labels.
The minimum orderable configuration consists of a
single library system with localization kit (in cases where customer
already has the necessary IEC power cord,
SCSI cables and media).
Installation services may also be ordered for customers who want to have
a certified Compaq Engineer perform an on-site library installation.

supports SCSI direct backup on multiple operating systems and platforms
using industry-leading software vendors. Fibre Channel backup with the
Compaq Enterprise Backup Solution offers multi-initiated backup and
restoration with multiple ProLiant servers for Windows NT today with
planned support for Novell NetWare environments.

The TL895 is a stand-alone
DLT automated library with 96 fixed slots and a drive bay capable of
supporting two to seven 35/70-GB DLT Drives. This scalability of
performance allows the end user the opportunity to configure the device
to meet their specific throughput and cost requirements.
Proven Reliability
With greater than 2,000,000
Mean Swaps Between Failure (MSBF), the TL895 is the most reliable in the
industry. The TL895 robotics do not rely on guiding surfaces for the
insertion of the DLT media, thus reducing drive contamination.
