High-Performance Backup and Restore
To achieve very high transfer speeds or redundant functionality, the Compaq
DLT Tape Array II attaches via SCSI directly to the Windows NT or NetWare
and IntranetWare server with support from Seagate Software Backup Exec or
Computer Associates ARCserveIT or JETserve software. Backup Exec redundancy
or performance may be enhanced with the optional RAIDirector software and
ARCserveIT performance or redundancy may be enhanced with the RAID Option.
Data is read from multiple disks concurrently and writes to multiple tapes
concurrently, thus running as fast as the server and tape drive hardware
will allow. The DLT Tape Array II allows data to be transferred at rates
reaching up to 100 GB per hour and beyond.
High-Capacity
The DLT Tape Array II, Model 4 comes complete with four 35/70-GB DLT Drives
providing up to 210 GB1 of fault tolerant (RAID 5) storage. Two
DLT Arrays can be combined on one server providing up to 560 GB of high
availability storage capacity. The DLT Tape Array Model 0 provides the same
convenient housing as the Model 4, but allows you to populate it according
to your needs, providing an excellent solution for higher-capacity
performance or redundancy.
DLT Technology
Digital Linear Tape uses advanced linear recording technology, a highly
accurate tape guide system, and an adaptive control mechanism to provide
high-capacity, high-duty cycle backups. DLT technology allows high
performance that scales across multiple drives when used in combination for
large local server backup environments found in a database environment as
one example.
Form Factor
Rack-mountable array cabinet (5U height) supports up to four DLT drives; two
cabinets can be combined into a single array for support of up to eight DLT
drives; modular design allows for gradual addition of more performance and
capacity when needed.
Manageability
Supported through Compaq Insight Manager, alerting the administrator when
tape status changes or when rewrite/reread thresholds are exceeded
Compatibility and Integration Testing
Compatible with Compaq 35/70-GB DLT, 20/40-GB DLT and 15/30-GB Drives; all
Compaq DLT drives have passed the Compaq testing and integration test
allowing full mixing of drive types. Compaq tests all new peripherals on
systems that simulate real-world computing environments. Compaq tests tape
drives on every network operating system available from Compaq with full
user loads to ensure reliability in your environment.
