The 40/80 GB DLT
Tape Drive is used in backup solutions for mid to high-end servers as a
stand-alone product. The DLT technology is positioned at the high end of the
Compaq secondary storage portfolio of drives, positioned above DAT and AIT. It
has a similar positioning within the industry. The 40/80 GB DLT drive is part of
a total Compaq solution using Compaq branded servers, primary storage and media.
Live trial software for backup applications is included in the drive option kit.
The 40/80 GB DLT
Tape Drive is a 40 GB native DLT tape drive with a native transfer rate of 6
MB/sec. It will utilize on-drive LZL data compression which can double these
characteristics to 80 GB and 12 MB/sec respectively. Additionally, it will
utilize an LVD Wide Ultra SCSI interface. With more capacity, higher performance
and comparable pricing to the 35/70 GB DLT, customers will transition quickly to
the 40/80 GB DLT.
