Q7 Tape Libraries

The Q7 and Q47 provide high-capacity library solutions for general data storage, archival or system backup. They are also well-suited for "near on-line" storage and cataloged retrieval of large files (i.e. image files) and large sequential data sets. The Q7 offers 1.96 TB compressed data capacity and generates 36 GB/hr data throughput*. The Q47 provides up to 4.2TB of compressed data capacity and throughput rates of 72 GB/hr*. The libraries pack a powerhouse of capacity and performance into a small footprint.

Product Highlights

Universal Load Plate Design
One of the many key features in Breece Hill's engineering design is the patented universal load plate on which tape drives are mounted. This allows you to use them not only in your Q7 and Q47, but in any other Breece Hill library as well by swapping them between libraries in the field. The universal load plate feature enables drives to be field replaceable, and protects your investment by enabling you to scale up as your data capacities grow.

Embedded Intelligence
Embedded intelligence distinguishes Breece Hill's libraries. The company's patented robotic positioning system consisting of a "learning algorithm" automatically and continuously re-calibrates to compensate for any changes in the library's physical environment. The robot can sense changes in the physical environment and then adjust for those changes, significantly reducing downtime and lowering overall service costs. The library barcode reader generates faster inventory times than other comparable products. Moreover, extensive recovery routines are enabled in a power-out situation. The library not only remembers what it was doing, but completes the action when power is restored, significantly reducing downtime and service costs.

SAN Connectivity
With the information explosion, it's important to know that the Q7 and Q47 provide universal compatibility with any SAN or NAS architecture. So you can be prepared to take your company to the next level of sophistication as your storage goals and priorities change.

Easy Library Management
Recognizing that a company's data is its most valuable asset, Breece Hill designed the Q7 and Q47 for secure yet easy data access. A front locking door opens to expose the carousel, robot and media. Drives, power supplies and electronic modules are easily accessed from the rear of the unit, and can be replaced quickly at your site. Maximum uptime and high availability is ensured with continuous access to data through power-on exchange of tape drives.

Compatibility
Like all Breece Hill libraries, the Q7 and Q47 interface with any major operating system including UNIX™, Windows NT™, Novell™ and others. They are qualified with all leading storage management applications affording you great choice and flexibility in your software selection.
