Breece Hill Q12.420, Q15.350 and Q18.280 Tape Libraries
When it comes to data intensive applications,
Breece Hill Technologies' enterprise line of libraries provide high performance
storage and back up solutions with maximum data capacity and transfer rates.
Flexible connectivity offers powerful and innovative methods for attaching to
SAN environments. Standard Data IQ™ architecture facilitates network management
and control of the tape automation process. Tape technology independence
provides scalable tape storage solutions. Engineered for large, distributed,
open-system environments, the Q12.420, Q15.350 and Q18.280 tape libraries
leverage proven automation designs while incorporate cutting-edge innovations
that vastly increase their functionality.
You can determine the most appropriate library
for your company depending on your back up window and the amount of on-line data
capacity desired. The 12 drive, 420 cartridge unit provides massive storage with
33.6 TB capacity and transfers 518 GB/hr compressed data*. The 18 drive, 280
cartridge unit features the fastest transfer rates with 778 GB/hr and offers
22.4 TB capacity with compression*. Or, for a blend of the two, the 15 drive,
350 cartridge library offers 28 TB capacity and transfers 648 GB/hr data with
compression*. In any of these libraries though, you'll find reliability and high
availability that every IS manager needs.
Universal Load Plate Design
One of many key features in Breece Hill's engineering design is the patented
universal load plate on which tape drives are mounted. This allows you to use
drives not only in your Q12.420, Q15.350 and Q18.280, but in any other Breece
Hill library as well by swapping them in and out in the field. The universal
load plate enables the drive to be field replaceable, and protects your
investment by enabling you to scale up as your data capacities grow.
Drive Independent
Even more important, the universal load plate allows the library to be drive
independent. This means it can support two different tape drive technologies in
the same library. Now you can combine DLT and LTO in the same unit, and
seamlessly migrate to new or different linear technologies as your backup needs
change.
Advanced Network Connectivity
Engineered for remote, centralized network connectivity, the Q12.420, Q15.350
and Q18.280 libraries offer Breece Hill's DataIQ™ Network Interface. This
standard feature is the library's network attach architecture built on open
standards. A single board computer mounted on the front door and a custom Java
applet called Itela,ä facilitate network monitoring and control via the web,
email alerts, or simple network management protocol (SNMP).
Sophisticated Operator Interface
Library control and operation is simplified with a color LCD touch screen
mounted on the front door. Here you can configure the library, check its status,
run diagnostics, operate the library or perform log activities. If you are
offsite, just point your web browser to the library's Internet address and
manage the library from anywhere in the world. Such efficient control
functionality decreases the cost of operation and ultimately decreases the total
cost of ownership.
With DataIQ™ Network Interface, users benefit
from: increased efficiency among IS personnel, flexible methods of library
monitoring and control, software and hardware cost savings, increased library
availability, easy remote management, and highly reliable backup and archival.
SAN Connectivity
With the information explosion, it's important to know that the Q12.420, Q15.350
and Q18.280 libraries provide universal compatibility with any SAN or NAS
architecture. So you can be prepared to take your company to the next level of
sophistication as your storage goals and priorities change.
Embedded Intelligence
Embedded intelligence is a distinguishing feature of Breece Hill's libraries.
The company's patented robotic positioning system consisting of a "learning
algorithm" automatically and continuously re-calibrates to compensate for any
changes in the library's physical environment. The robot can sense changes in
the physical environment and then adjust for those changes, significantly
reducing downtime and lowering overall service costs.
The library barcode reader generates faster
inventory times than other comparable products. Moreover, extensive recovery
routines are enabled in a power-out situation. The library not only remembers
what it was doing, but completes the action when power is restored,
significantly reducing downtime and service costs.
Easy Library Management
Knowing that the customer's data is their most valuable asset, Breece Hill
engineers designed the Q12.420, Q15.350 and Q18.280 for maximum uptime and high
availability that is ensured through power-on exchange of tape drives. Users
have easy access to tape drives, cartridges and robotics through a lockable
front door. Such accessibility protects the integrity of the data by allowing
the operator to manually remove cartridges containing mission critical data in
the event of a power outage. Drives, power supplies and electronic modules are
easily accessed from the rear of the unit, and can be replaced quickly on-site.
Maximum uptime and high availability is
ensured in Breece Hill libraries with continuous access to data through
redundant load-sharing power supplies, and power-on exchange of tape drives. An
optional 30 cartridge locking import-export simplifies media handling and offers
additional security for information sensitive backup.
Compatibility Like all Breece Hill libraries,
the enterprise line interfaces with any major operating system including UNIX™,
Windows NT™, Novell™ and others. They are qualified all leading storage
management applications affording you great choice and flexibility in your
software selection.
