Large-Scale Data Management Solution
The ADIC® AML/2™ automated storage library is the premier solution for your
large-system data storage.
 |
The AML/2 is the industry's largest capacity data storage library-the
only one with fully redundant robotics for continuous data availability. |
 |
It supports simultaneous use of different media and drive types and an
easy migration path to new technologies to protect your investment. |
 |
It scales together with your data growth using unique barrier-free
expansion to eliminate all pass-through ports. |
 |
Its multi-host architecture makes it easy to share the library between
different applications and operating systems. |
 |
And the AML/2 is supported by one of the industry's premier global
networks of integration, logistics, and field support experts. |
The First Choice for: Capacity, Density,
Redundancy
The AML/2 is the industry's premier solution for large data system storage.
It offers the industry's largest capacity, scaling to support hundreds of
drives and more than 76,000 pieces of media. Supporting multiple drive
technologies, the AML/2 can store more than 5,000 terabytes of data (native)
and deliver any tape cartridge to any drive in less than 10 seconds. The
AML/2's QuadroTower storage module system delivers this capacity with
industry-leading density, offering over 6,500 GB per square foot. For true
mission-critical applications, the ADIC AML/2 also offers the only
large-scale data storage library in which every piece of media can be
accessed by two fully redundant robotics systems to ensure maximum
continuous data availability.
The AML/2 supports more than a dozen different media types, including all
leading tape formats (3590, 9840, DTF, DLT, LTO, AIT, etc), recorders and
media used by the broadcast and entertainment industries (Betacam, for
example), and audio CDs and optical disks.
Making Change Work for You
All the new choices in tape and recording technologies are great news for
storage-especially if you pick a library that supports them all instead of
being tied to a single drive manufacturer's products. The AML/2 supports
more than a dozen technologies today, and offers concurrent operation of
different drive types in the same library. It is also designed to support
integration of new technologies easily so you benefit, no matter who creates
the next great drive. Multi-media capability allows you to:
 |
Pick the right technology for your information management job today. |
 |
Support more than one drive type at the same time in a single library. |
 |
And convert your library easily to next-generation technologies
tomorrow, no matter who develops them. |
Cross-Application Data Availability
The AML/2's multi-host architecture lets your library share data across all
of your network applications and architectures, including Storage Area
Networks. It also supports partition of the library's storage into
user-defined virtual libraries, provides for automated data and media
management, and allows easy remote monitoring and operation. The combination
of the multi-host architecture and simultaneous support of different media
types makes the AML/2 the most flexible storage system in the industry.
Performance and Scalability Within a Single
Library
Library resources must be able to grow with your data. But for conventional
systems, with extra robotics and cumbersome pass-through ports, scalability
means a much higher prices and much lower performance. The AML/2 offers a
fundamentally different approach. The library grows simply by adding new,
barrier-free modules; all of them are served by the same robotics without
any pass-through ports. This unique expansion system gives the AML/2 the
industry's widest range: from 2 to 400 drives and over 76,000 pieces of
media. Barrier-free design means easy growth, low cost expansion, and fast
performance: any tape is less than 10 seconds from any drive even at the
maximum system size.
Protected with Global Support
ADIC recognizes that total data management requires an integrated approach
that includes both product design and an experienced service and support
organization. The AML/2 begins with uncompromising design, ISO 9000 quality,
reliability that has been proven in some of the world's most rigorous data
storage environments, and redundancy, even in the robotics. Then we
incorporate a professional services, infrastructure design, and training
team that understands your storage needs and the ways that information
serves your organization. To complete the solution, we add one of the
industry's premier global support and logistics teams, providing service in
more than 40 countries worldwide.
Supports Wide Range of Applications
The AML/2's mixed media support and barrier-free scalability make it the
preferred choice for a wide range of data management tasks.

AML/2 libraries grow with your data through a barrier-free expansion
system that adds capacity and drives without using pass-through ports.
Media is stored in QuadroTowers, offered in three different heights,
which can be added to the library to accommodate growing data management
demands. Drives are housed in up to 54 separate drive cabinets attached
to the library. The AML/2 robotics support concurrent operation of
multiple media types and can be easily upgraded in the field to add new
drive and media technology. An optional second robotics system, which
can access all the media in the library, provides full redundancy.
