Flash Hybrid Storage Pool
Optimized storage pool
Solaris ZFS, which comes with the Sun Storage
7410, uses a virtual storage pool to seamlessly optimize access to the
different media types, including SSDs, improving efficiencies and increasing
application performance.
SSD and SATA drives increase performance
The Sun Storage 7410 delivers up to twice the
performance at half the cost of traditional storage solutions, enabling you
to increase productivity without paying the price. In fact, it’s the only
storage system with hybrid pools, which increase performance and throughput
and shatter the I/O bottlenecks.
Increase application response times
The Sun Storage 7410’s hybrid architecture
combines Read- and Write-optimized Flash Accelerators with 7200 RPM SATA II
drives. This makes the 7410 ideal for organizations that require high-volume
throughput for write operations, and results in higher energy efficiency.
SSDs increase performance
SSDs dramatically increase performance while
cutting power consumption by up to 80% compared to spinning disks. Just what
you need to reduce space and energy costs and increase utilization and
scalability. Plus, the Sun Storage 7410 also utilizes 4000 RPM SATA II
drives for energy efficiency.
The flexibility to meet your changing needs
The Sun Storage 7410 provides you with the
highest-density server/storage solution available anywhere. Unlike
traditional storage architectures, the Sun Storage 7410 is highly adaptable
to changing business needs. The system not only scales up to 576 TB of
storage capacity in an 8U form factor, but also scales in multiple
dimensions, including I/O throughput, processor performance, and total
capacity.
For example, you can increase disk
performance by adding SSDs. As your application requirements change, you can
increase computational power by adding more CPUs and cache and expand total
capacity by adding enterprise-class SATA drive expansion units.
Cost-Effective
Easy on your budget
Flat or declining budgets are a fact of life
in today’s IT environments. But so are growing storage demands. The Sun
Storage 7410 can save you up to 75% when compared to the competition, while
still delivering twice the performance.
Eco-efficient
The Sun Storage 7410 helps you lower costs by
lowering energy consumption and offering higher storage density, which
reduces space requirements.
No additional software licenses
Unlike other vendors, who charge license fees
for protocols and data services, Sun includes features like CIFS, NFS,
replication, and snapshot restore with the Sun Open Storage Manager that
comes with the system. No additional licenses are required.
Reduced Risk
Solaris ZFS increases availability
The Sun Storage 7000 file system, ZFS, is a
transaction-based file system that only performs copy-on-write operation to
protect existing data, and provides RAID-Z DP to maximize data availability
Data integrity features keep you up and running
Checksum protection for data and metadata as
well as a self-healing mechanism to correct any potential data corruption
are included in the data integrity features.
Two-node cluster ensures availability
The Sun Storage 7410 supports a two-node
cluster configuration which has no single point of failure, reducing the
risk of downtime and ensuring that your business stays up and running.
