The DXi4500 is a compact 2U disk deduplication appliance that deploys seamlessly into a small business’s network environment,supporting a large number of backup applications.There are two pre-configured models: DXi4510 with 2TB of usable capacity and DXi4520 with 4TB of usable capacity. All software licenses are included in the base price of these appliances. The DXi4500 has built-in replication, so the DXi4500 can replicate backup data to another DXi appliance for disaster recovery or backup centralization. In addition to CIFS and NFS, the OST feature provides for high-performance backup and automated backup management.

DXi4500 ingest performance with in-line adaptive ingest (i.e., the speed of ingest when running concurrent with deduplication) is up to 400GB/hour.

DXi4500 supports both CIFS for Windows environments and NFS for Linux and UNIX environments. Data from both PC clients to server running email, database, and other applications could be easily backed up to the DXi4500.

DXi4500 supports Symantec’s OpenStorage API (OST) for NetBackup v6.5.3 or later, and Backup Exec 2010 or later. OST simplifies the automation of backup and replication using NetBackup Storage Life Cycle Policies. Performance is significantly improved. OST also gives customers application-aware replication, where the DXi appliances replicate data between units directly, while management and tracking is provided directly by NetBackup or BackupExec.

DXi4500 supports native DXi replication, as well as OpenStorage (OST) application-aware replication. Only unique blocks are transmitted, reducing network bandwidth enabling conventional WANs to be practical for disaster recovery.
