BlueStor™ is a technology
represented by an ever-expanding product family that addresses today’s

BlueStor products include rack
mount storage servers; JBOD and RAID storage shelves; all using many common
high-grade components to provide extremely flexible, ultra high performance
storage at a very competitive cost.
BlueStor PeSAN™ (PCIe Storage Attached Networks) DAS and NAS systems
offer the highest bandwidth, and fastest data transfers in the industry, at cost
points well below one dollar per Gigabyte. Using only 16 disk drives in dual
RAID 5 sets (one 3U storage shelf), BlueStor achieves peak read/write transfer
rates of greater than 600 MB/s, with the limitation being the number of disk
drives. 1.2 GB/s or greater transfer rates are achieved when using two storage
shelves and 32 disk drives; and going to three shelves (48 disks) results in
sustained throughput rates in excess of 1.8 GB/s (67% read, 33% write, random
30MB transfers). Sustained “read only” rates are in excess of 2.4 GB/s for
sequential 2MB transfers. These unmatched performance metrics for less than
$0.50/GB system cost in a small-scale disk array significantly raises the
performance bar while setting a new milestone for cost-affordable storage in the
SMB and SME markets.
The high performance-to-cost
ratio, as well as the compact form factor of BlueStor systems, make it the ideal
choice for a variety of cost-conscious, performance oriented applications in the
general IT and video related markets. BlueStor is perfect for online/nearline
storage, data backup and recovery, production (HD direct to disk) and
post-production; NVOD and VOD content distribution; surveillance/security; high
speed D2D; medical imaging; geo-spatial imaging, and pre-press (automated
printing).
We have customers using PeSAN
DAS systems in lieu of much more costly storage arrays in all these industries.
PeSAN directly attaches to the
host server’s PCIe bus using a simple host adapter we provide. The host adapter
can have either one or two x8 PCIe external connections, or up to three x4 PCIe
external connections (while occupying a single mother board slot). Using a
simple off-the-shelf cable, the 4 GB/s PCIe bus ‘electrically’ attaches to the
PeSAN storage shelf with its self-contained hardware RAID controller to provide
best-in-class performance without burdening server processor resources – at a
much lower cost than competing Fibre Channel or Infiniband attached systems.
All BlueStor 3U rack mount
products provide up to sixteen (16) hot-swappable SAS or SATA II disk drives
installed vertically, not horizontally, for minimum vibration, best signal path
optimization and minimum airflow restriction. Disk drives used in BlueStor rack
shelves run 10-12°C cooler than any competing products.

Allows PCI Express bus expansion from a host server.
Includes five PCIe expansion slots in an external 3U rackmount with 16
hot-swap SAS/SATA disk drive bays and a SAS Expander.
Features a x8 port for the host connection, plus one x8 PCIe slot and four
x4 PCIe slots. Simply plug in a PCIe adapter card into the x8 slot and use a
x8 PCIe external cable to another Extender.
JMR
firmware allows hot-plugging PCIe compliant devices of all types (GbE cards,
Video cards, Host Bus Adapters, RAID controllers, etc.).
The
system monitors link status, PCIe device status, power and cooling status
and all critical functions during operation and this product is fully
functional with a 7 meter PCIe cable length without signal degradation.
