The IBM TotalStorage DS6000 series is designed to deliver the resiliency, performance and many of the key features of the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server® (ESS) in an amazingly small, modular package.

Affordable DS6000 series systems are designed to help medium and large enterprises to simplify their storage infrastructures, support business continuity and optimize information lifecycle management.

Easy installation and management using IBM TotalStorage DS Storage Manager, an intuitive Web-based GUI designed to enhance management efficiency with straight forward configuration, management and maintenance functions.

Flexible, open standard-based architecture designed to help facilitate the flow of information across the enterprise, even in complex, heterogeneous server environments. The DS6000 series supports IBM z/OS®, IBM OS/400®, IBM AIX®, as well as Linux™, UNIX®, Microsoft® Windows®, HP-UX and SUN Solaris environments.

Extensive autonomic and management functions including Predictive Failure Analysis® capabilities, Light Path Diagnostics and controls, and the IBM TotalStorage Multiple Device Manager (MDM) is designed to provide a single interface through which administrators can monitor and manage multiple and different members of the IBM TotalStorage DS Family, as well as non-IBM disk arrays.

Designed to provide disaster tolerance with advanced copy services. The DS6000 series is equipped with four paths to each HDD and uses storage expansion enclosures with redundant Fibre Channel switches providing switch access to disks

• Using modular, 3U, 16 disk drive, rack-mountable enclosures, the DS6000 series can grow along with your storage needs up to 67.2TB physical storage

The IBM TotalStorage DS6000 series supports extensive connectivity - including Fibre Channel, and FICON - across a broad range of server environments -- including zSeries, pSeries, eServer p5, iSeries, eServer i5, xSeries and other Intel based servers, Sun and Hewlett-Packard. This rich support of heterogeneous environments and attachments, along with the flexibility to easily partition the DS6000 series storage capacity amongst the attached environments in any combination, helps support storage consolidation requirements and dynamic, changing environments.
