NovaXchange Data Management and Conversion Software

NovaXchange includes powerful tape handling and data management software utilities for Windows 98se/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 platforms, with the ability to transfer and manage all types of data and all kinds of SCSI tape drives between operating systems and different architectures. NovaXchange reads and writes various formats including Fixed Length, IBM or ANSI variable length and even undefined tape record formats. NovaXchange also reads and writes IBM or ANSI Labeled or Unlabeled tapes, translates EBCDIC to ASCII and ASCII to EBCDIC. With NovaXchange, there are few, if any limits for users to manipulate and interchange their data.

  • Convert data from Mainframe and Unix tapes for use on today's PCs and servers including Microsoft's latest Windows 2003.
  • Transfer data from virtually any tape to a local or network attached SCSI, IDE/EIDE, USB or FireWire tape device.
  • Properly format data to tapes used for printing on Xerox high-speed production laser printers.
  • Concatenate multiple data files into a single file for database imports and merges.
  • Convert fixed length data files to variable length data for accurate and efficient database imports.
  • Use your PC to read and convert data from older formats used by some government agencies.
  • Convert PC data files to be read from tapes on Unix and
    mainframe systems.
  • Utilize the NovaXchange command line capability to automate routine data conversion tasks.
  • Consolidate several types of data files into a single, consistent format.
  • Share your data with business partners by converting your files to acceptable formats.
  1. What is NovaXchange?
NovaXchange allows you to transfer and manage all types of data between different tape types, file types, and even over different operating systems and architectures. Data that has been stored for years on IBM Mainframe and Unix tapes can be easily formatted to a readable format for PCs and servers. TAR format tapes are handled quickly and easily. And for the dubious job of upgrading old tapes to newer systems, NovaXchange makes data and format transfers a snap.
  2. What disk drives, tape drives and host adapters does NovaXchange support?
NovaXchange is compatible with most devices. We have listed the tested tape drives and host adapters in our technical support section. If you have an adapter which is not listed there it is usually one with a compatible command set to one of the listed devices.
  3. What tape formats and file formats can NovaXchange read?
NovaXchange can read and write various formats including Fixed Length, IBM or ANSI variable length and even undefined tape record formats as well as read and write IBM or ANSI labeled and unlabeled tapes. Some compatible formats include 3480/3490, 9-track, 4mm, 8mm, DDS, VXA, M2, AIT, DLT, SDLT, LTO and more.
  4. Can NovaXchange do any conversions on data files?
NovaXchange is capable of translating EBCDIC to ASCII and ASCII to EBCDIC including Byte per Byte, Pre-defined or User-defined Tables.
  5. Will NovaXchange work with my autoloader / library?
NovaXchange can be configured to work with autoloaders and libraries through the use of a plug-in. The NovaXchange Library Plug-in gives you the ability to easily address one or more tape drives and multiple tape slots.

Optional Plug-ins

TAR/CPIO Plug-in
Add the ability to read and write Unix TAR and CPIO formats on tapes and disk with the NovaXchange TAR/CPIO Plug-in.

Library Plug-in
Add support for autoloaders and tape libraries to give NovaXchange the ability to easily address one or more tape drives and multiple tape slots. Advanced tape and data handling made easy.

Network Tape Plug-in
Now you can read and write to a tape drive on a different computer across the network. Add the NovaXchange Network Tape Plug-in to your remote system with the tape device and access that tape device from NovaXchange on any other computer on the network. The ultimate convenience.
