The
Star series of MO drives from Maxoptix allow for support
of today’s extensive requirements for data intensive applications and
will be the platform for tomorrow’s higher capacity requirements. The Starseries is available in two models, the T6-5200 (5.2GB) and
the T5-2600 (2.6 GB). The Star series T6-5200 has the
exclusive turbocache system, which greatly improves
performance over previous generations. Whether it’s high performance,
reliability, capacity, or multi-functional capabilities, the new Star
series T6-5200 with the exclusive turbocache
system, and the T5-2600 are ideal solutions for data intensive
applications including document imaging, medical imaging, large data
exchange, archive and backup.
Performance
The drives support an Ultra-SCSI interface to provide for a high data
transfer rate of up to 20 MB/s synchronous and 6.8 MB asynchronous.
The industry’s first MO drive with 8 MB cache, the T6-5200
Star drive is additionally enhanced by turbocache,
increasing system performance by 20%.
Reliability

Maxoptix drives are exceptional in reliability with a Mean Time
Between Failure (MTBF) of 200,000 hours and a Mean Insertions Between
Failure (MIBF) of 500,000. These types of performances make the drives
ideal for jukebox applications. The Maxoptix supplied MO Media is of
the highest quality, certified by the company in T6-5200, T5-2600
drives and the complete line of MX jukeboxes. MO Media may be written
and erased more than 100,000,000 times. Archival (shelf) life of this
media is also exceptional at greater than 30 years without any special
storage requirements, such as rigorous temperature and humidity
standards.
Capacity
With the T6-5200 and T5-2600 drives, you get high
removable storage capacity with near hard drive speed. Maxoptix drives
fully supports all generations of ISO standard media being able to
read and write MO, LIMDOW, and CCW media from 600 MB to 5.2 GB
capacities. The Maxoptix Star series drives are the only
MO drives with full read and write backwards compatibility all the way
to 1x media.
Multi-Purpose
The combination of speed and capacity makes these drives suitable for
many functions including document imaging, medical imaging, large data
exchange, archiving and backup. Each drive also contains a special
jukebox interface, enabled enhanced performance for Jukebox
operations. The drives are designed to perform in all major operating
systems - Windows 95/98 and NT, UNIX, Linux, Netware and Macintosh.
