ONStor's NAS Gateways consolidate enterprise-wide file services for Windows, UNIX and Linux clients and servers onto fibre-channel attached, multi-vendor disk arrays. Taking the best of both worlds, ONStor's NAS Gateways combine all the ease of deployment and simplicity of management of conventional NAS with the scalability and flexibility of SAN. Conventional NAS is limited by the inflexible link between specific disk resources and specific NAS heads. When either the disk is full or the bandwidth of the NAS head is saturated, the remedy is to add an additional NAS device along with the pain of migrating users and data to the new device. Servers/Scalability A virtual server appears to clients and servers on the LAN as a complete NAS device with a unique identity, IP address and security authentication. The power of a virtual server lies in its mobility. It can be transparently relocated among Bobcat NAS Gateways at any time for load balancing, failover, or performance scaling. Virtual servers are a standard feature of all ONStor NAS Gateways.

the core of all ONStor NAS Gateways, the EverON software platform is compact and
exceptionally efficient. This robust platform was designed for one purpose: to
deliver enterprise-scalable, multi-protocol file services. With this singular
mission, it is the first to virtualize both storage and processing power to
deliver the industry's most scalable NAS environment. ONStor's
robust 64-bit file system, STOR-FS, is central to EverON. This file system
delivers exceptional scalability: up to 100TB per file system, up to 400 file
systems within a cluster (for a total capacity of 40 petabytes), and no
limitation on the number of files. The unique n-way clustering architecture
delivers availability and seamless performance scalability.
The
ONStor NAS Gateway is built to address the need of corporate environments to
reduce complexity and simplify administration. Using a native implementation of
the Windows CIFS protocol, ONStor's NAS Gateways deliver fast data throughput to
thousands of Window clients or servers simultaneously.

NAS Gateways incorporate a native CIFS implementation that supports the full
range of Windows clients and servers, including Windows 2000, Windows 2003,
Windows XP, and Windows NT. Authentication services may be provided by Windows
NT domain
ONStor's
integrated snapshot technology allows almost instantaneous recovery of
individual files or complete file systems. This protects against accidental or
malicious deletion, corruption or overwriting of files. The DataSnap snapshot feature allows up to 48 point-in-time images of each hosted file system to be recorded on either a scheduled or on-demand basis. To minimize storage requirements, only file system differences are recorded. For fault tolerance, the images may be accessed by any of the ONStor NAS Gateways. All of the security attributes are maintained with the snapshot copy to ensure any recovery is authorized. This means that users can be safely authorized to recover their own lost data, releasing IT staff from tedious tasks.
ONStor
NAS Gateways provide automated volume management through the innovative AutoGrow™
feature. After initially allocating storage resources to user groups and
applications, remaining storage is virtualized into a common pool then allocated
as needed, according to policies you set. Volume management is simplified with ONStor's NAS Gateways, high watermarks can be set and AutoGrow™ will dynamically provision additional storage from the virtualized pool, ensuring user groups and applications have sufficient storage at the right time without manual intervention. In addition, because the pool can contain a variety of disk storage devices (makes, models, RAID type, performance etc) storage can be allocated based on the performance and cost needs of the user group or application so that the appropriate RAID group or performance based disk is used. The simplified management associated with the virtualized resources leads to lower costs, better storage utilization and non-disruption of users and applications.
ONStor
Data Mirror delivers asynchronous data replication between multi-vendor storage
arrays, delivering the capability for "windowless" backup and business
continuance through instantaneous data restore. ONStor NAS Gateways allow
selection of a secondary disk array as a continuous backup target and because
the back-up traffic is SAN based, the LAN is eliminated as a bottleneck. Get fast disk-based backup and instantaneous data restore, without the need for a costly near-line storage device. ONStor Data Mirror software replicates data between multi-vendor storage arrays that may be either co-located or many miles apart. ONStor's open storage approach means that cost-effective storage - including SATA arrays - can be deployed as the replication target. The second copy can be almost instantly accessed in the event of primary storage failure by simply mounting the volume. Support for NDMP and proven compatibility with leading backup applications provides high performance SAN based backup to tape. ONStor delivers better data protection at unbeatable cost.

ONStor Bobcat NAS Gateway achieves industry-leading throughput thanks to a
64-bit symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) pipelined architecture. Designed
specifically for high-speed data delivery, a single Bobcat NAS Gateway delivers
