Serial ATA is the next generation ATA interface. It provides faster data transfer speeds, more bandwidth, more potential for speed increases in future generations and better data integrity. Serial ATA hard ware is smaller and more compact than traditional parallel ATA components. A powerful command set and hot plug features make SATA very attractive for ATA RAID applications.

Serial Attached SCSI uses a serial, point-to-point topology to overcome the performance barriers associated with storage systems based on a parallel bus or arbitrated loop architecture. Connecting with both serial ATA disks and Serial Attached SCSI drives, it will support two classes of disk drives.

Ultra320 SCSI doubles the maximum data transfer rate for the SCSI bus from 160MB/sec to 320MB/sec and incorporates a new technology called adaptive active filtering for improving received signal quality.
