Atlas 10K IV

Maxtor Atlas series SCSI disk drives -- with capacities up to 146.9GB, 10,000 RPM rotational speed, extremely low seek times and fast internal transfer rates -- set a new standard of performance for enterprise and workstation drives. The drives provide superior shock durability and reliability with Maxtor's Shock Protection System™, which guards against one of the leading causes of hard disk failure, mistreatment during handling and integration. To manage their throughput, Atlas SCSI drives feature today's most advanced interface -- the industry-leading Ultra320 SCSI. 

The Atlas™ 10K IV drive is the industry’s fastest 10K SCSI drive, with a seek time of 4.3ms and maximum sustained data transfer rate up to 72MB/sec. Thanks to its speed advantage, the Atlas 10K IV drive provides up to a 30% increase in sustained data transfer rates and delivers 9% faster seek times over the previous 10K SCSI generation.

With capacities of 36.7GB, 73.4GB and 146.9GB, these drives are ideal for the most demanding high-bandwidth and high-capacity enterprise server applications. The Ultra320 interface includes features such as packetization and quick arbitrate and select, which greatly increase data throughput. The Maxtor-developed Ultra320 interface includes MaxAdapt™ (adaptive active filtration), a closed-loop method of improving signal quality. MaxAdapt allows the drive to adapt to changing system conditions and components, which translates into lower error rates, easier integration, and increased bus efficiency for optimal system performance.

These drives provide exceptional performance, capacity and value for servers, workstations and storage subsystems. With capacities of 18.4GB, 36.7GB and 73.4GB, and seek time as fast as 4.5ms, they are ideal for applications demanding rock-solid reliability and standard SCSI drive performance. The Ultra320 interface includes features such as packetization and quick arbitrate and select, which greatly increase data throughput, and MaxAdapt™ (adaptive active filtration) for optimized signal quality.
