531DX Ultra DMA 100 5400 RPM:
The Maxtor 531DX is the first in a new family of Maxtor 5400 RPM
hard drives designed for higher reliability. It incorporates the world’s
first inner diameter load/unload ramp that locks the recording head into a
protective carrier to cradle the head during shipment and any other time
the drive is not in operation. The Maxtor 531DX is the industry’s
first true single head/single platter hard drive with an Ultra ATA/100
interface. These drives offer up to 15GB of storage and data transfer
speeds up to 100 megabytes per second and utilize Maxtor Silent Storeä
technology for whisper-quiet acoustic performance and Maxtor Adaptive ATA
Controlä for unsurpassed data integrity. The
531DX drives are an excellent choice for entry-level systems and
consumer electronics applications, with their combined value and
performance. When your application calls for a cost-effective,
high-performance storage solution, select the 531DX series of hard
drive by Maxtor.

Configuration Notice:
Maxtor ships two
styles of connectors on our hard drives. The jumper illustration on your
hard drive label and in the installation guide may appear different than
the actual connector on the drive.
This addendum
illustrates both connector styles and the correct jumper settings.
If you have an older system BIOS that
does not address capacities over 2.1GB (BIOS dated pre 1995, or if you are
experiencing system hang conditions) you will need to close the 4092
cylinder limit jumper in conjunction with your drive selection of Master,
Slave or Cable Select.
